MCLB Nebo Base – HVAC & Refrigeration Replacement

  • Sector: Government

  • Service: HVAC, General Construction

  • Client: Marine Corps Logistics Base (MCLB) Barstow

  • Location: Barstow, CA

  • Year Completed: 2024

  • Contracted Amount: $300,000

  • Overview: Paradigm Mechanical executed a full replacement of three 10-ton rooftop HVAC units at Building 38. The project included the safe capture and proper disposal of all refrigerants and oils from the existing systems, followed by complete demolition and removal of the units and all associated load-side components—disconnects, fuses, connectors, gas lines, and condensate piping.

New equipment installation included curbs, electrical, gas, condensate, and thermostat connections, along with new condensate and gas piping from the new units to the nearest elbows and valves, as directed during the pre-bid site review. Paradigm safely disconnected and reinstalled the existing DDC controls, and performed programming, calibration, and full controls startup to ensure proper system integration. Original dampers, ductwork, registers, and thermostat wiring were reused where applicable, with replacement of horizontal return ductwork for AC-1 as specified. The new systems were commissioned to restore full heating and cooling functionality per the manufacturer’s specifications.

Additionally, Paradigm removed and properly disposed of all refrigeration equipment, including the complete demolition of the existing walk-in cooler/freezer at Building 38, following all environmental and safety protocols.
